Sony is off to the races with its new Playstation 4 game console. It sold over 1 million units within 24 hours of releasing it in North America. That’s a new record for a Playstation system. The new system is retailing for $399.
As often happens with new releases, there were a few glitches reported by a small number of consumers. They complained that their consoles wouldn’t show video, and had flashing lights, according to entertainment news site IGN.com.
In a statement to IGN, Sony said, “A handful of people have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 systems. This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch.”
The news of the sales was posted by Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment, to Twitter on Sunday.
Sony plans a Nov. 29 release of the PS4 in Europe and Latin America, and a
Feb. 22, 2014 rollout in Japan.
