When developer Koushik Dutta first released AllCast, the app allowed Android users to display content from their phone’s gallery, Google Drive, or DropBox account on TV screens, with the aid of Google’s HDMI dongle. But that’s all over now, since Google released a Chromecast update that eliminated support for AllCast.
Since then, AllCast has focused on open DLNA devices, or, as Dutta says, “almost anything you can hook up to your TV,” including Roku boxes, Apple TV, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Google hardware, smart TVs from Samsung and Panasonic, and more. Dutta expects his app to be compatible with Chromecast “someday.”
