China Mobile must be salivating at the prospect of looming success just over the horizon, on the eve of taking a bite of the Apple pride and joy, the iPhone5.
China Mobile has been shipped by the China-based Foxxconn 1.4 million Apple iPhones that will then commence to be sold as of January 17th. The stockpiling by China Mobile of all these phones shouldn’t be confused with the actual demand for the devices.
The iPhone 5c will not be sold by China Mobile.
It should be noted that the iPhone 5s, being sold by China Mobile is not a first for China, only China Mobile.
China Unicom and China Telecom have both been selling increasingly discounted iPhone 5S units since September of 2013. The aforementioned companies are rather small in comparison to China Mobile.
According to Gartner analysts, Apple Inc. has sold 18.5 million iPhones in China for the months of January through September 2013.
