Manufacturers of desktop computers and standard laptops, keenly aware of the 10% drop in sales, are gearing up for what is being touted as a revolution against both the industry-standard Windows operating system and Microsoft.
The gala (CES) Consumer Electronics Show will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in January. It is there that the “PC Plus” machines will be unsheathed. When the veil is lifted here is what can be expected: Tim Bajarin of Creative Strategies puts it best – “A PC Plus machine will run Windows 8.1 but will also run Android apps as well. They are doing this through software emulation. I’m not sure what kind of performance you can expect, but this is their way to try and bring more touch-based apps to the Windows ecosystem.” Multiple manufacturers of today’s computers are involved in this PC revolution.
