Though it may not interest consumers that much to have a slightly curved design via what LG calls the “world’s first flexible OLED (organic light-emitting diode) panel for smartphones”, the South Korean firm hopes to start selling the first handset with this technology next year. Samsung is also in on the action as it intends to launch a special edition of the Galaxy Note 3, with a similar modus operandi to it.
The idea of calling the screens flexible may be a bit misleading right now, as the screens are mounted in fixed shells lacking the capability of being re-shaped by the owner. It is not able to be slapped around the wrist or something of equal revolutionary stature.
