According to the Register, Dell is laying off 15,000 employees this week. That’s about 15% of its 108,000-strong workforce. This move follows a previous round of substantial layoffs in January.
Dell, however, begs to differ, saying that “the Register’s reporting is inaccurate.” It appears to be consolidating its support staff under an “umbrella,” combining consumer and commercial support, and improving Pro Support. Engineering staff may face cuts, as well as client support staff.
