Evernote-transparentIn May, Evernote enabled 2-step verification for both it’s Premium and Business users, with the extra security layer now being available to the rest of it’s user base. Users will need both a generated code from a smartphone in addition to a username and password used so as to log into the service, once enabled. The company was prompted to force all users to change their passwords and expedited the development of advanced security features after a security breach earlier this year prompted this.

As for unpaid users, they will be required to download an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, in order that the login code be generated. Premium and business users will choose to have the code delivered as a text message.
