Facebook is looking to acquire Titan Aerospace, the maker of solar-powered, near-orbital drones that can fly for five years without needing to land. Facebook is one of the backers of The Internet.org Initiative, which aims to extend affordable connectivity to the 5 billion people worldwide who cannot yet afford Internet connection.

According to TechCrunch, Facebook wants to blanket different parts of the world without Internet access, starting with Africa. The company would begin by building 11,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), particularly the “Solara 60” model.
