The possibility of Facebook incorporating a “sympathize” button to add variety to those who see posts and mark them with a “like”, has come out of talk at the company’s annual Compassion Research Day.
Let me give an example of why Facebook is even talking about a sympathize button: John Doe posts “I went to the doctor and he told me that my test results show that I have an incurable, terminal disease.” Jane R. sees the post and doesn’t want to “like” it, but she can ‘sympathize’ with it.
What is next? A “love”and “hate” button? How about a “hmm” or an “Aha!”?
