German Patent Licensing Firm Loses Court Battle With AppleA court in Germany has ruled against German patent licensing company IPCom, in favor of Apple.

IPCom was asking for $2 billion in damages, claiming that one of their patents covers 3G and LTE services.

IPCom owns 1,200 patents, mostly in mobile technology, and it’s a good guess that they will appeal this ruling.

IPCom has built a large portfolio of technology patents, and if allowed to stay, this ruling could be highly damaging to their core business.
