GitHub has a newfound reason to celebrate its astronomical growth.
The social networking platform devoted to programmers is now poised to be valued at $2 billion.
This, after a round of fundraising that netted the company $200 million.
GitHub has become the place for programmers to share their coding projects for feedback, and possible collaboration.
The network offers premium subscriptions for businesses, which helps to prevent projects from being viewed publicly.
The new valuation is another high point for the company, which had run into a bit of turbulence with co-founder Tom Preston-Warner having to step down after being accused of gender-based discrimination and harassment along with his wife.
He was later cleared but did not return.
There is some speculation that the as yet unnamed investor may be the same as their first investor in 2012, Andreessen Horowitz.
GitHub didn’t offer any public comment on the news.
