Google Settles With States Over Privacy IssuesIt cost Google $17 million to settle a privacy case with 36 states and the District of Columbia .

The case details involved the use of third party cookies being set in the Safari browser.

“Consumers’ default privacy settings were circumvented without their knowledge,” Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said in a statement.

Google has “taken steps to remove the ad cookies, which collected no personal information, from Apple’s browsers.” said Nadja Blagojevic, spokesperson for Google.
