iBeacons For Home UseWith a new app named Placed, you can now use iBeacons at home.

To begin, you’ll need the Placed app, which you can download from the app store.

You’ll also need the iBeacon hardware, which can be created with a Raspberry Pi and a Bluetooth LE transmitter, or, you can pick up something like (they also have a great explanation on how the technology works) Estimote, which will set you back $99.

Up until now, iBeacons have been mostly limited in use to retail business operations, and recently, sporting events, so, if you have the time, and can find a use for this technology, check it out.
