Lenovo Acquires Motorola From GoogleChinese smartphone maker Lenovo is acquiring Motorola.

How much? A cool $2.91 billion, which will be in the form of both cash and stock.

Larry Page of Google said “Lenovo has the Lenovo Acquires Motorola From Googleexpertise and track record to scale Motorola Mobility into a major player within the Android ecosystem. This move will enable Google to devote our energy to driving innovation across the Android ecosystem, for the benefit of smartphone users everywhere.”

Google takes a huge loss on this sale considering they purchased Motorola for the sum of $12.5 billion, in 2012.
