Satoru Iwata‘s impassioned yen for turning a profit of ¥100 billion for 2014, has seen a revision. Yesterday’s guestimate has given way to a new Nintendo horizon. It is a bleak one. Nintendo now foresees a net loss of ¥25 bilion ($240 million) and an operating loss of ¥35 billion ($336 million).
A drop of 69 percent, from an estimated 9 million to just 2.8 million is the dismal expectation concerning Wii U consoles to be sold this year.
Sales were already so dissipated, despite the expected holiday season sales pepper-upper, that in the first half of 2013 only 0.46 million Wii U systems were sold in the first 6 months of 2013, that CEO Iwata’s dreamy statistic seem like utter chicanery.
