Twitter Resets Passwords On UsersA system error caused Twitter to reset many users’ passwords around the world, according to the company. What caused the error is not clear. It could have stemmed from a hacking attempt by a third-party site or service. It triggered letters to users around the world, informing them that their passwords had been reset, and that they needed to choose new ones, along with instructions to do so.

A spokesperson said, “We unintentionally sent some password reset notices tonight due to a system error. We apologize to the affected users for the inconvenience.”
