Premera Blue Cross has been experienced a data breach which may have affected as many as 11 million customers.
According to this report, the data breach was discovered January 29th and may have involved social security numbers, customer names, birth dates, mailing addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, as well as bank account details, and medical clinical information.
Data that was compromised may go back to 2002.
Premera, on their website, stated “We’re offering two years free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services to anyone affected by this incident. We worked with one of the world’s leading cybersecurity firms, Mandiant, to investigate the attack and remove the infection from our systems. We’ve taken additional actions to strengthen and enhance the security of our IT systems moving forward. We’re also coordinating with the FBI as they conduct their own investigation into the attack.”
