malwareDerek Manky, senior security strategist with Fortinet’s FortiGuard Labs figured the time was past due that ransomware affect mobile devices.

Said Manky “It seemed like the natural evolution path for criminals to take at that time,” he said. “To my surprise, this has taken longer than expected. We are just now seeing ransomware in its early adoption.”

Ransomware is a type of malware that is used to lock your computer. To regain access, you usually have to download further malware that causes even more mayhem.

The criminals installing ransomware are most often looking for account information, passwords, banking information, all types of information they can get their hands on.
