As we reported a few days ago, Satya Nadella is the new CEO of Microsoft.
Nadella follows Steve Ballmer as the new head of Microsoft.
Bill Gates said “During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Microsoft than Satya Nadella. Satya is a proven leader with hard-core engineering skills, business vision and the ability to bring people together.”
Nadella said “Our industry does not respect tradition – it only respects innovation,” he says. “The opportunity ahead for Microsoft is vast, but to seize it, we must move faster, focus and continue to transform. I see a big part of my job as accelerating our ability to bring innovative products to our customers more quickly.”
From Nadella’s bio as noted on Microsoft.com:
He started his career as a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems. In 1992, he joined Microsoft. He was on his way to get a master’s degree in business when the Microsoft job offer came. The company was building an operating system that ultimately would be known as Windows NT, and needed team members who understood UNIX and 32-bit operating systems, he says. Nadella wanted to complete his master’s degree and take the Microsoft job. He did both.
