Security firm, RSA won’t admit it. It is believed that the RSA was paid off by the NSA to use a crooked random number generator.
The problem with the random number generator, the “Dual Elliptic Curve Determinitic Random Bit Generator” is that it is wrought with serious weaknesses. Crooked. Brought on board to configure with some RSA products in 2004, and a scant 3 years later its flaws were showing.
Protected data would be readily available to be spied on, as a result of the RSA’s haywire contraption. It is here in the story that the backdoor for the NSA becomes their point of entry.
