With social media and social networking becoming such a crucial aspect of our business dealings these days, the importance of backing up our conversations, and our fan, friend, and networking interactions is becoming more noticeable as our dealings rely more each day on social interactions that take place online.
If you’re not backing up your social media and social networking, you really should be. You should back up your social interactions at least as often you back up your computer hard drive.
As a cautionary tale, I can relate to you my own experience losing valuable data due to the irresponsible actions of a music site (that will remain nameless here) that carelessly did away with over 23,000 fans of my music when they were acquired by another company. Sure, they were irresponsible in not offering me my data beforehand, but I should have backed up that data myself, instead of relying on them to protect my data.
There are some automation tools available (do a search) that can help you back up your social media and social networking interactions, fans, friends, and connections. Unfortunately, most social networking sites have not been proactive when it comes to offering these solutions to end users.
So remember, it’s up to you to back up your social media and social networking data. Don’t wait until it’s too late and you lose everything you worked so hard for.
