Statistics sum up things well, and so it seems fair to say that Twitter tends to be for the younger crowd while LinkedIn is more for those a couple of years older. Doug Anmuth is an analyst for JP Morgan who wrote to All Things Digital per his social network analysis. Here is a little summary of what Anmuth uncovered:
The general user base in the United States on Twitter places users between 13 and 44 years old. Those between the ages of 25 and 34 make up the greatest community of ‘tweeters’ — of which 10.1 percent — are those aged 13-17. A percentage of 18.2 of the Twitter community are those between age 18 and 24.
LinkedIn sees its greatest concentration within the United States of those aged 45-54.
Facebook, meanwhile, has its greatest mass with the 25-to-34 year old crowd.
