Nine music labels, that include Warner/Sony/EMI etc., are preparing lawsuits to be filed in earliest January 2014. The legal strike is being taken against Vkontakte, dubbed the “Facebook of Russia”– a big social network site — as the Russian company has been cited as unlawfully distributing licensed music. 6,000 tracks is the sum total of the crooked activity alleged against Vkontakte.
From Madonna to Metallica to other big names like Beyonce, Vkontakte is set, if found guilty, to become the first to fall under the axe of Russia’s new anti-piracy law.
The ads shown while people listen to the music is first and foremost, expedient proof that Vkontakte is profiting on what is not theirs to siphon capital from.
