WMG and Shazam will partner to work together on marketing and finding and signing virtual unknowns to a new label that will carry the Shazam label emblazoned on it.
From a music-tagging app to a record label is an unexpected and yet ambitious move. The A&R department at WMG will be utilized to the full in combination with Shazam’s fan information base it has built.
200 countries and 420 million users are statistics that Shazam can boast, alone.
